when charging a mobile device with a wireless charger you cannot simultaneously use you phone and charge it.
It charges slower than a conventional plug-in charger.
If you have actually decided to pay more for this feature you're a 'tard.

This is intended to be light-hearted of course.

For me it makes sense in my car which has built in wireless charging, but everywhere else I've found no benefit.

I like it. We have a 3 device Ikea charger in the kitchen/dinner. If it was a cable I'd probably not connected the phone. But when I can just drop the phone on the pad and get a small charge up it's great

Works well in public/shared locations.

But yes for personal use, you still have a wire from the wireless charger to the wall and you cannot move the phone while it is charging so you have the same, if not more constraints than before

How do you answer the phone/facetime people while driving and charging?
Complete lack of functionality.

That's Why i use one of these. It means the phone is always viewable and useable while charging and you still dont have to mess with any wires. Oh, and it cost about £4..

Is this a Whoosh Parrot?

...I would be driving, not facetiming people, so wireless charging would be fine in the car?

I've not been trolling anybody?

The facetiming comment was a joke.

Simply put it next to the bed on the charging pad so no faff with wires and when you get up its fully charged ready for the day - what's not to like ?

Handy for the bedside table. Use the phone and then just pop it on the wireless charging pad. No need to go searching for the wire down the side of the bed. Also handy for the office. Have a pad set up on my desk and just drop the phone on there when I return from a meeting.

I don't think reaching for a cable is an obstacle of such annoyance that it needs solved by an additional purchase (charger) and a replacement phone (with wireless capability)

Brainwashing tactics by the wireless camp. Trying to normalise the idea of such unnecessary features. Getting their sheep to pay through the nose for their redundant tech. wink

saves wear and tear on cable ends as you plug them in and out and eventually fail ...

Can still make and receive calls using bluetooth whilst it's on teh charging pad.

Long term devices can be more sealed off, therefore more waterproof / dustproof.

Standardised charging technologies (yea ok i know ..... ) would make cross compatible charging much easier

Not just for your mobile phone, eventually could be used for charging a whole plethora of devices.....

Not just that - it is inefficient compared with a wire.

If you consider the 1.5 Billion phones out there being charged up every day now taking 30% more power to charge them to the same level just for the gimmickyness of charging without a wire plugged in, that's a lot of wasted energy.

Globally, we probably need several more power stations just to wirelessly charge people's iPhones which is a bit sad.

I wonder if all these extinction rebellion types will use wirelesss charging....

Bravo, fat80b.

That is the checkmate we needed. Hard to argue against the worlds ever increasing energy dependencies.

So, if you are pro-wireless, you're an anti-icecaps, climate change denier.

Shame on you, wireless bds.

Less wires in my life = a good thing; charging speeds will increase over time.

Best application I've seen is people custom-modding their desks or coffee tables to effectively hide the charging pad under the surface so everything is unobtrusive.
