I recently replaced my desktop with one running XP and my printer prints rubbish and my scanner won't work (Colorado). This is progress?

Does anyone know how to make my Epson Color Stylus 740 work on XP - Epson don't seem to?

Thanks for your reply. Yes, Epson offer a driver for 2000 and XP but my o/s says that it might cause instability because the driver isn't designed specifically for XP. I don't want to use a driver that might screw the whole system. As for as the Primax Colorado scanner is concerned, Primax say they aren't issuing any more drivers - i.e "sod you, buy a new scanner!" The whole ethos of the computer industry really pees me off.

Do the necessary back up and install that driver.

Don't believe the hype. It's usual for a driver to be suitable for both W2k and XP as XP is build on W2k. So install it and see. You can always unload it after!

ditto for primax

www.primax.nl/

their front page does say use the same driver as W2k

you should be OK on both counts!

Have you tried installing them in compatability mode. My HP scanner only works that way

Actually, I hadn't - until my WordPerfect 6.1 for Windows stopped working sometime between loading it (when it did work) and loading a number of other applications, one of which must be inhibiting it. Compatibility mode didn't help WP6.1 but it might the others, I suppose. Microsoft Word now seems a more attractive wordprocessor
