My old Wileyfox Swift has done a great service. Cost £120 three years ago and is still ok. However, it's stopped receiving security updates for a while now and the old processor is struggling with things. I could look at updating it from Android 7.1.2, but I'm scared I'll brick it.

I've decided I'd like to invest in another cheap Android phone. Last time I looked, this forum was very helpful and directed me towards the Wileyfox.

What is currently decent around the £200 or below price range?

I've noticed the Nokia 7.1 and the Moto G7 (bit over budget). However, are there any other gooduns around less than that or at that price?

I have a sim for the phone and am not looking to take anything on on a monthly payment.

Thanks all.

I'd buy another Honor 9 (not Lite) in a heartbeat. Mine only cost £159.95 which was the bargain of a lifetime IMHO. Currently £230.00 on Amazon which I grant you is over budget, but it's worth every penny of that.

Excellent build, great battery life, superb camera.

At that sort of price I think it is hard to beat the MotoG range. I have had a Moto G6 plus for a while and really impressed for the price.
I see the G7 power is £160 and the G7 is £220, they seem in the right price range for you.

If contactless payment is important to you then double check the Motorolas have NFC as the latest ones don't seem to have it.

I had a Swift too, i have a POCOPHONE F1 by Xiaomi, for the money best performing phone. About 230 but worth it.

multicore bench is 7611, similar ro double priced phones. Has a boost function for playing games. It has a few issues, but really is great value.

I bought my Huawei P8 Lite 2017 for £180 just over two years ago. I haven't regretted it, the one concern these days is receiving updates on the newer models. I can get through two days on one charge still

As a long term Nokia user I'll probably go back to them. My Lumias were excellent as were the "dumb" phones that preceded them.

I'm amazed that the top end iPhone with Applecare comes out at about £1500. I ran over the Huawei with the lawnmower last week, fortunately I think it was only the screen protector damaged. Bad enough with £180...

I had a wilefox swift for a little over three years, great service from it.

I upgraded in a hurry recently and bought a redmi note 7. Not what I wanted, and I wouldn't recommend it for the price.

The Moto g7 range or the Nokia 7.1 or the Xiaomi mi A2. I wanted one of them as they have Android one, (last two at least). The one I bought has a load of crap installed on it.

I have a dual SIM Moto G6, perhaps I lack imagination, but I can’t see what other things you might need to justify spending significantly more. My G4 lasted 30-months before the USB connection broke, so cost me just £5/month.

The G6 seems to charge in less than a couple of hours.

I'm on my second G7 power and I'm selling it. Its great with one significant problem. It doesn't have strong phone reception /signal strength.

Partner is on the same network and where she gets 2 bars and 4g, I get no service. Both phones have the same problem.

I've got a Motorola One, which is fine, apart from the camera, which is terrible.

Camera isn’t great though so that could be a deal breaker

Thanks for the warning. I was looking at one of these for Mrs Scrump. A search on Google seems to reveal this is a problem with the G7 Power, so I will be sticking to the non power models.

The Moto G7 itself does have NFC, but the UK editions of the G7 Power and G7 Play versions don't.
