Deleted the original post sorry.

Anyway. My old business email address has been hijacked/bought n sold and now I get spam trying to sell me products all the time, most naff all to do with my previous business. I click the "unsuscribe" bit but I have been told that just sends a link that the address is till ative and they sell it on etc.

Wish I knew how to fk them up a bit. Not destroy it with a worm like we see on TV or movies but just get your own back

It depends on if they are actual companies sending the emails or not.

For example, a few years ago I had a call from a company that said they were doing "market research". It was about my business and they had my business email address. It seemed okay so I started answering their questions, then it became clear it was that they were trying to sign me up to various email mailing lists and stuff. I ended the call. But then loads of spam started arriving. It was all from actual UK companies mind you, and they said something like "you are receiving this email because you have agreed to it" and so on. I'm sure it all came from that call.

Anyway, there is a point and I'm coming to it !

I too, like you, never clicked on the unsubscribe links because I too had read it means they can see it's an active email address and you will just get more of it. By after GDPR came in I started clicking on the unsubscribe links and after doing that for a few weeks all the spam stopped.

So as I say, if it's from proper companies I would use the unsubscribe link. If it's the other type of stuff like how to get a bigger cock or how to shag some Russian dolly or how to sign up at some dodgy online casino then just delete those.

All my email gets routed through gmail servers. They Gmail systems is pretty good at filtering out most SPAM.
