My daughter is running a Nokia 5 mobile phone and to date this has been a good, phone.

She has noticed that the battery life has halved overnight and some basic research tells me that this is due to the last update. The owners of Nokia are not interested and she is struggling to coax the phone to stay alive for half a day at the moment and that is without use.

Any ideas what can be done? I dont particularly want to spend £400 on a new phone (i need the money for my cars!!).

Any help appreciated.

First hit on Google but it's from February - on step 5 I'd set the animations to 0.5, as off is pretty harsh on the user experience andbut 0.5 will still feel slicker https://community.phones.nokia.com/discussion/4225...

You need to look in the battery settings bit of the settings, on pure Android phone you can click battery use and there is usually a section that will show you what apps have been open for what time and how much battery they have used.

"without use" usually equates to 4+ hours of social media and candy crush.

I think Nokia used a baked-in software service called Everwell to manage power and battery, even on their android one phones. I believe it leads to all sorts of problems. They've dropped it on their most recent phones.
Try searching for Everwell problems or similar and see what you find. It's somewhere to start anyway.

A new perfectly usable phone doesn't need to cost £400.

I've been using one of these for the last 18 months and had zero issues.
