android 10 podcast confusion
Discussion
Hi all,
I've just moved from an iphone to a pixel3a android 10, and some things seems alot less intuitive. For example I want to download podcasts and then listen offline or stream to my sonos play 1.
it seems "google podcasts" downloads and plays the podcasts fine but cannot cast or stream to the play1 (via the sonos app), same with spotify, castbox, these last two download the podcasts but down appear in google files, yet the mp3 downloads and appears in files when using google podcast. However the mp3 won't play "a playback error has occurred".
So i did some playing and confused my self as somehow I managed to download three different podcasts (not sure with what app), they all appeared and played in "google files" and appeared in the sonos app and streamed perfectly.
Anyone shed some light on this, when in the world of apple it just worked.
Thanks

Never used Sonos.
I tap Download on the podcast I want in Google Podcasts, and when I want to listen to it I press Play in Google Podcasts. Simple.
I never listen on the phone speaker. It's always via a bluetooth speaker or earbud, or via Cast to another device. The cast icon is in the usual Cast location top right of the app. I've 3 Cast devices dotted around the home. Ditto with Spotify - I usually just Cast Spotify to a soundbar or a set of speakers.
I'm lost as to why you have to search for files manually. I know Sonos has a reputation for being temperamental and frustrating when it refuses to play ball, but why would any app/service have you rooting through directories searching for files manually?
I'm confused as to what you've done/are trying to do too!

thanks for the reply, somehow I managed to download some podcasts as mp3's and they appeared in "google files" and would play natively and also played in the sonos app and the "google music". my thinking is if they play from google "files" they will work in the sonos app. So I can't understand how my podcasts downloaded using google podcasts, won't play from "google files" or "google music"
I did it but can't remember the route I took.
