I prefer the look of the XS max, and it’s coming in at £4 cheaper a month than the 11 pro max

Maybe I’m out of touch with the price plans on these phones but £4 doesn’t seem a lot, and I’m also thinking about how much the Xs max and 11 pro max is going to be worth in 2 years time

What is the upfront cost for both?

Calculate the total cost of the deals for the same duration and then see which costs less. Take account of trade in at the end too.

But if it’s as you say only £4pcm more it’s a “much” better phone

Upfront is £29 for both, identical plans in terms of perks, so we’re talking a measly £96 over the 24 months.

The 3 lenses on the back of the 11 looks awful, however I’m quite certain that £96 would be outdone by trade in, as by then the Xs max will be an older phone

Help please

I’ve just seen that the Xs max has dual sim, I have a virgin sim sat about doing nothing with unlimited data enabled.

Is there anything stopping me taking Vodafone’s cheapest/lowest data plan and using the virgin sim for my data?

You need to be careful here. The XS Max is dual sim, however, it’s only a physical dual sim in handset sold in Asia. The European and American models are single physical sim and 1x esim.

I learnt this the hard way.

How often do you look at the rear of a smartphone? That wouldn’t bother me one iota. I take loads of photos with my XS, and would love the wider angle lens.

EE has just messaged me to say my Pro Max 11 is coming tomorrow. I went for Midnight Green, just to try something different to space grey.

The timing of the release worked out well for my existing contract ending. I had previously avoided the larger phones and have got on fine with my standard X. But whilst on holiday recently a friend had the larger X and to be honest the larger screen made emails easier to read.

I will know more tomorrow

What spec phone / memory?
What £ upfront
Length 2/3 years
Data pcm?
Total monthly cost?

I’ve been seeing £106-112pcm from my current EE provider yet like for like Sky are offering it at mid £50-low £60pcm which is vastly cheaper for some reason.

Sky will be a 3 year deal no doubt. The plan is over 2 but the phone will be a 3 year loan with lower payments in the 3rd year or you can trade in.

That’s a bummer regarding the dual sim, andpoint taken on the rear

There’s another angle here, was looking at apples upgrade program and for around the same monthly fee I could enrol on that with the 11 pro max with apple care, fire Vodafone off and use my virgin sim that’s comes with my TV package (unlimited data/text/calls.

I’m hesitant because my phones vital for my work, I’m sometimes in the sticks where my Vodafone signal drops to 1 bar, virgin is the same network as EE I believe?

My Xs max is setup using the e-sim for the second line. It works *really* well however AFAIK only EE supply compatible e-sims in the uk at present so unless one of your lines is using that network you are out of luck. Note also that both sims need to be on the same network unless the handset is unlocked. We fell foul of this with work phones being on Voda and my personal being EE. Vodafone will only unlock handsets (business and personal) after 3 months of bills being paid - no exceptions they told us! That was a pain in the arse... I believe EE are worse (6 months iirc).

I have same upgrade @ 12 months option. May be useful if iphone 12 has 5g & if 5g is worth having wink
It restarts the 24 month contract though. So your effectively giving back the 11 for half price. I guess it will be worth more than that then..

Some people don’t need masses of space and rely on the cloud/streaming.

There is only 3 that don’t offer eSim currently as I understand it. Annoying really as I’m with 3 but the deal I have is miles better than the equivalent priced packages on other networks
