Mirror cam tweak

Hello all,

Perhaps a bit of an unusual one.

I bought a Fu Manchu Ming dynasty GXL picture in mirror rear view camera with dashcam feature . I especially wanted the reversing
aid part and rigged up, it worked, for a while.

Now, when I select reverse, the feed from the reversing lights changes the image
but it is just black with the guide lines (or not). More strangely, If I start reversing
and then go into fist gear, the picture is back but in the small pic in pic size.
More oddly, when I set off again, the image is full size but black , apart from the
guide markings, even if I'm driving forward.

I took a look at an article on Dashcam Talk. On there, there's a ifrmware file, with instructions to unzip
it, put it on a micro SD and restart the unit with the card in. However, they say this may knacker things
completely, for which they accept no responsibility.

So what do we think? If all else ffails, I could always get another kit, to get a few months'
camera service. I also haven't even tried the dashcam record bit yet, though the forward looking
pic on the mirror is fine.

by the way, apparently, these things all have a Novatek processor, for what that's worth.
