Are there any options for replacement joysticks these days?

Had a quick look on ebay and plenty of used period examples, but many quite pricey too. Are there any decent new offerings available or other solutions?

Not specifically Amiga but I just use my wired XBox 360 controller for MAME and C64 gaming, especially with the latter you can often map keyboard controls to the spare buttons.

You won't find any 'new' versions of the classic joysticks so your stuck with used ones on eBay if you want 100% plug and play. There are a few other options.

Amigakit manufacture this stick, its not cheap but it does use quality arcade spec components http://amigakit.amiga.store/product_info.php?produ...

You can use Amiga CD32 pads on all Amigas, One to go for is the Competition Pro Honeybee but they go for good money now, the Standard pads break quite easily so avoid those and don't buy the Boomerang pad, they are crap.

Also there are adapters available so you can use PSX pads and also USB adapters: http://amigakit.amiga.store/product_info.php?produ...

You can get a USB version of the classic Competition Pro joystick here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Speedlink-Anniversary-Com...

You can also use Sega Master System Pads with the Amiga. There's a bit of debate about whether it's safe to use unmodified Genesis/Megadrive controllers on the Amiga with recommendations about pin 5 and 7 being swapped over to make it safe.

I've found it's better value to buy a master system bundle which comes with some pads than it is to buy the pads on their own, bonus being that have a master system to test them out on too...

Thanks.

I did find a USB adapter that looks promising, so I could use a USB joystick. Not really interested in using joypads, I like the retro fun of the stick... biggrin

That said, I actually ended up ordering a Raspberry PI. Think I’ll give Amibian a try. I’ve used WINUAE before on a PC. But this seems so much better. I probably won’t be retiring my A600 just yet though....

I'm building a Mame arcade cabinet with a view to playing Amiga games among others.

(Didn't get much uptake on this thread).

Can't wait to get into these again:

Supercars were the best games, that and skidmarks.

I was reading a while ago about the parts for a retropie cabinet. You can still get good quality, old school arcade style joysticks and buttons with usb adapters to use with emulators.
