I have a long house. I have gigaclear in the study at the far end. Currently this has the radio turned off and it is connected to a unifi ac lite shown as (A) this covers 90% of the house but I am finding I need to cover the last 10%.
Now my thought is to take a second feed from the gigaclear to a second unifi ac, run the cable down the outside of the house and back in to position (B). This would totally cover the house.
But I have amazon echos throughout, Kasa plugs and cameras, along with a smart tv and now tv sticks. They all play happily on the one network provided by (A). When I add (B), I anticipate a good percentage of echos etc will latch on to the new ac being a stronger signal that end. If I name both acs with the same ssid and passwords, will it just be one happy network or will I loose product control if my phone is connected to (A) and say a lamp switch is on (B)? I know there may be a mesh setting within the unifi controller but I feel the second may not pick up a strong enough signal to repeat and I will also loose speed repeating. ( or have I got the mesh idea wrong in terms of it is just a repeater? )

The Unifi system is designed to allow 'hand-off' between APs. Ideally you should set the APs up on different channels and drop the power so they are not screaming at each other, will help the clients choose the best AP to connect to.

So my idea is sound? I have the lite set to US at the momment for extra power so I will reset it to UK

Yes it will work perfectly if setup the way you say with the same SSID credentials.

Are you using the Unifi Controller software or are you running in standalone mode? If you are using the controller the SSID etc will just appear on the new AP when you adopt it and it gets provisioned.
