hello boys. Got meeself a 2nd hand iPAQ from a pal, for running tomtom etc for the Le Mans trip soon. No instructions & so been learning as I go.. however 1 thing stuck on. I've got a bluetooth jacket with CF slot.. works fine with a 128MB card I have , but need more space so bought a 1GB CF card to use. Insert card, turn iPAQ on
"unrecognised card - enter the name of the device driver for this card.. etc etc"

what i doooooooo? System doesnt see that card at all

thanks guys, ED

Check HP site for firmware updates etc, get em all on. Suspect its to do with the size of the card, rather than the Ipaq - when anything that a sensible person would ditch is old enough to be second hand the biggest card you could buy was around the 256Mb mark.
Still, worth a pop with the firmware.

Annoying. The 1GB card works fine with my old Navman GPS iPAQ jacket, inc CF clot. However doesnt work in Compaq's own Bluetooth jacket with CF slot.
grrr

Might be an issue with the bluetooth sleeve; had no end of trouble with mine and I ended up binning the whole set up and buying a new ipaq. (Slightly OTT reaction, but there you go..)

I had a 3850 with a 512mb card and a bluetooth sleeve. Trouble was, I'd upgraded the operating system to PPC2003 and that refused to work with the sleeve. Got all sorts of problems with it and a CF card. Only way round it was to roll back to PPC2002 IIRC as the upgrade to PPC2003 will not work with bluetooth at all, (at least not for the model of ipaq I had..)

that sounds pretty much spot on - though I'm running 2002 already; feel sure its a jacket issue. I've cheated & bought a 256MB CF from ebay to see if that'll sort it (cheap OTT!)

Probably a slightly better way of going OTT than I did, (especially as my phone co gave me a new smart phone with the new contract shortly after so the ipaq is now mostly redundant)..

I pass past Oxfordish a couple of times a week, let me know if you want to try your kit with bits of mine; might be possible to isolate the problem between us..
