I know most of us don't use the landline anymore, can't even remember the number etc. however...

We still use ours sometimes, both sets of parents don't really do mobiles unless away from the house and even then only if it's a necessity. Problem is my trusty Panasonic DECT seems to be dying despite new rechargeable batteries. So I thought in this day and age someone would be making a box that you plug into your landline, plug into your router (or connect to WiFi) and then you can make and receive landline calls on your mobile.

On Googling it seems like these things do exist either a Panasonic DECT phone that connects to Wi-Fi, the Invoxia Voice Bridge, or the Amazon Echo Connect but they all seem to have some terrible reviews on Amazon and the likes (even their own device!).

The Amazon thing isn't really a goer anyway as it only works with other Echo/Alexa products and I don't want to be making all my phone calls on a speaker.

Anything I've missed that actually works? Might just have to get another DECT phone and forget about doing anything clever frown

I've got the Invoxia bridge and I don't really rate it. Call quality is poor and laggy. That may be my internet connection but it fails to impress me.

I assume the landline number is for people to call you rather than the other way around? If so then get a free Sipgate basic account with 'landline' number and tell those who call you to dial that instead: https://www.sipgatebasic.co.uk/

You then install a softphone app on your mobile like Zoiper and connect to it and then when they dial the 'landline' number you registered your mobile will ring.

Have you tried WhatsApp to make calls, at times it's pretty good/reasonable at others but not poor and available on desktop too

Use your Amazon Echos to make calls (look up Alexa Communication)?

I have a Vonage IP phone, £12 a month including all UK calls. Box plugs into network. Using the Vonage on line tools you can then divert calls to whatever number you want. When we are on holiday, we set the divert to both our mobiles (mine and wife's) and at least one is always turned on .

Your landline provider will do call divert.
