Hi all

Need some help with this one please. . .

Followed 3 or 4 youtube videos with partial success of how to fix my wifi connection to my BThub6 from my windows 10 laptop.

Started a few days ago with not connecting automatically as always but would connect manually after disconnecting.

Since then tried suggestions available but even when I do get it to connect when I shutdown or restart the problem begins again.

In the videos I've followed I have used various cmd commands including dns flush, tried updating the adaptor and uninstalled/reinstalled it too.

Need a bigger, stronger approach from you wizard guys please?

Cheers

Check you have the latest drivers for the WiFi receiver on the laptop (you have used Windows update?). Most slim laptops I've used have had rubbish WiFi receivers. My wife's laptop I had to buy a new Wifi USB 3 receiver as it was forever dropping the connection. Now it never has issues.

Thanks and have updated the drivers, even uninstalled and reinstalled them to no avail

BUT

Latest. . . My BB is through BT and with that I get free FON network which laptop connects to no problem, I can also use ethernet to BTHub6 and works and if I then unplug ethernet the wifi to BTHub6 is back working UNTIL I restart then doesn't connect anymore?????

It got me baffled but sure someone has the answer?

Cheers again

I would google "Windows 10 forgets wifi password" and see which problems seem closest to yours, e.g.

Did what you suggested and some interesting ideas came about which worked to regain connection but soon as I restart la[top back to square one.

How come my mobile connects to hub ( so hub working ) laptop connects to hub with ethernet and connects to BT-Fon network ( so laptop wifi working ) ?

As always, any advice welcome?

DHCP on? No other items connecting with fixed IP that could be clashing? Check list of attached items in the router manager.
Have you tried removing the Wifi from you Laptop and trying to connect again. "Forget Wifi" setting.
Also check the name of the wifi isn't the same as someone else on the street. I can see 2 on our street with the same "BTWifi" naming.

Thanks above my paygrade but

  • Via cmd found that DHCP is on
  • Gone to hub and nothing has obviously IP address but some have MAC addresses which don't show an IP so guess the answer is I don't know for sure
  • Tried removing wifi with no luck
  • No-one in range has same hub name but there is a 5star full signal named 'hidden network' but I'm next door to a big green metal BT sub station thing at the side of the footpath ( everything else is 4 star or weak signal)
I've done my best to get as much info for you but will gladly try anything you suggest? Thanks

I been at this for 2 days and have now found:

If I do this:

Select the Start button, then select Settings > Network & Internet > Status > Network reset.
Open Network & Internet Status settings
On the Network reset screen, select Reset now > Yes to confirm.
Wait for your PC to restart

It works, however, if I restart my laptop it gives me the same NO INTERNET, SECURE

Need a drink

Is the laptop connecting to the router, but the router is not allowing access to the www?

Can you see other computers on the network?

Can you ping the router when it says "no internet"?

Tried resetting the router to its defaults already?

Even if you’ve done nothing to it manually it may be bugging out.

I have had an Lenovo IdeaPad that has been doing this for years - even after a complete W10 rebuild. It is properly annoying but haven't found a fix for it yet as a few people had said that the Lenovo wifi adapter is st.

Can you pop round a mates and try it on a different router.

If it it still fails, and given it was working previously I'd personally reinstall Windows. Drastic, and it might not fix it, but it then either works, or you have in one action ruled out another possibility.

That would then narrow it down to either hardware or driver, but as you've reloaded drivers it would seem it's not that.

As a matter of interest, has the routers firmware upgraded recently.

Just a reset might sort it rather than a full reinstall.

If you can, create a WiFi hotspot on your phone and test it that way.

Thanks everyone; appreciated.

I shut my laptop last night and had a beer as my head was pickled.

Opened the lid a few moments ago and it's connected while I was brushing my teeth???

This is what it does, it connects one min and then can't connect. . . it's a random fault

In answer to one question above, the laptop sees the router and connects without issue then the wifi symbol goes to a 'mesh world' symbol and the message reads No internet, secured

I was on to BT last night and a new router should be with me today, so will wait for this to arrive and see what happens and depending on the outcome will let you all know or go through your suggestions above.

Cheers guys, have a good day and will update you when any news

I'm gonna guess that you've got a conflict with windows and a third party piece of software trying to manage your WiFi connections.

In the system tray, you'll have the standard windows internet symbols, and the third party one.

Right click on the third party one, go into setting and find the one with something like "allow windows to manage my connections".

Tick that, and the planets will align.

  1. I setup hotspot on mobile and got No internet, secured
  1. CMD as admin > ping wambooli.com
Ping request could not find host wambooli.com. Please check name and try again

  1. Attached 3 pics, the last one shows my options when I right click ( so can't find "allow windows to manage my connections" )
Hope this makes sense to you all now you can see what I can; cheers as always

Does your phone etc connect to the WiFi with no issues?

I'm still convinced it's a management conflict.

Are there any other icons hidden in the system tray?

Close cleaner for a start, I don't think it can mess about with you connection, but it's a bloaty piece of st these days by all accounts.
