I just signed up to a three year contract for a 100/100 lease line but it appears that i will be put on a 100Mb bearer instead of what i thought to be a Gb bearer.

Now prices are starting to drop with Openreach and the ISPs, would i need to go through an expense to upgrade faster in a year or so to be put on a Gb bearer?

I don't wanna be stuck on this 100 with no option to change looking ahead!

Is it definitely a 100 bearer or just throttled to that?

I'd speak to your supplier about an upgrade. Surely they can just switch the stuff at the other end from 100 to 1000 and then up your speed if it is a 100 bearer. There might be an up front charge but they could maybe wrap this up into the monthly payments.

From what I understand they can swap the stuff at their end quite easily it just depends what they have you plugged into and where.

If they cant help or the price is stupid then you'll need a new supplier but because you're already in a 3 year deal it sounds like you're stuck with them for the 3 years.

I'm not sure if suppliers can take over a connection you already have from a different 3rd party. If they could then you may be able to swap mid term. They can do that with adsl right so it can't be much more different.

What media type is the connection, fibre?

If so then agree with above it may just be a software tweak or worst case they can swap the optics.

It is a fibre leased line.

I was told that the fibre goes all the way to the carrier POP and bypasses the exchange and any cabinets.

Not sure how tue that is because in three years time I might wanna change isp which might use bt.

I think this contract is with talktalk business.

If the fibre terminates in their pop then surely they can switch the equipment to something which can support more bandwidth if required. It's not like they'll need a fatter piece of fibre.

Yeah good point!

Just reading up on standard Fttp and I didn’t realise that you get everyone’s data sent to your connection, but as your data is tagged, it only lets yours through.

Surely that’s a weak point for hackers to take advantage of?
