I have a G5 Mac and there are a few movie files I cannot play with either my Qucktime or WMP. I have an avi (of some kind of Brabus) that my quicktime player refers me to this page:

http://www.apple.com/quicktime/resources/components.html

Does anybody know anything about these? Which should I get codecs I need?

thanks for any help!

It's probably encoded in xVid (www.insaneness.com/xvid.html), DivX (www.divx.com/divx/download/) or 3ivx (www.3ivx.com/download/macos.html) - you will need to download the appropriate codec.

Alternatively download MPlayer (http://mplayerosx.sourceforge.net/) or VideoLan (www.videolan.org/vlc/) and they should play it for you.

Thanks for the help M-five,

I'm more puzzled after reviewing the source for the video and it says I need DivX-5.05 and I have that or at least I can play other DivX 5.05 videos.

FWIW, to another fellow M-er, put the summer tires on, tried to give the car a good thrashing, but the grip levels are so high it is impossible to exploit them near their max on the streets.

If Quicktime doesn't play it, 99.9% of the time VLC will.

Correct link: www.videolan.org/vlc/download-macosx.html

I personally wouldn't bother with the rest of the stuff.

You're obviously not trying hard enough - I got mine racing tyres to slide and smoke at the weekend - and got one of them through the rubber, through the canvas and down to the metal windings.

Have you seen www.bmwtrackdays.com - they are a like-minded bunch of lads who's sole aim is to use their BMWs to their fullest - on the track of course.
