PC build troubleshooting help

Ever start something only to wish you never bothered?
I decided it would be fun to salvage some parts from my old laptop and build a mini ITX based fanless system.
I salvaged fom the laptop:
Corsair CMSX8GX3M2A1600C9 NB Vengeance Performance 8GB (2x4GB) 1600MHz CL9 DDR3 SO-DIMM Memory Two Module Kit.
Plextor M56M 128GB mSATA SSD
Seagate 500GB 2.5" SSD Hybrid Drive
OcUK Combo Card BT+WLAN
And to complete I bought:
Akasa Euler Case (comes with external 120W PSU 19v 6.32A)
Gigabyte H81TN Motherboard (eBay New)
Intel i5 4590t (eBay Used)
I assembled it all, the power switch works, light comes on but that's it. No output to screen via HDMI.
Any tips? It's a pain to take apart but I have done several times to check everything looks right / removed 1 stick of memory, no change.
Any guidance from here greatly appreciated!

Processor?
Oh yeah, the i5, missed that bit.
Are you sure it's compatible with the mb?
Yeah it's listed as compatible, but I know the near identical Asus H81T needed a bios update that was on a revision 2 board to work with newer Haswell refresh chips like my 4590t so it does make me wonder. Oh yeah, the i5, missed that bit.

Try without the msata drive attached.
What other video outputs are there besides hdmi?
I tried without the sata attached but not the msata. There is also display port but I don't have anything that uses that unfortunately. What other video outputs are there besides hdmi?
I did have a very similar issue to this on my old desktop pc I recently started using again, it turned out to be the bios battery. Replaced that and was perfect again. This is quite an old board, I'm wondering if it could be a same issue but seems a long shot. My desktop was 10 years old.

Is the memory compatible with the motherboard?
Sure appears to. From the manual :2 x 1.5V DDR3 SO-DIMM sockets supporting up to 16GB(8GB X2) of system memory
* Due to a Windows 32-bit operating system limitation, when more than 4 GB of
physical memory is installed, the actual memory size displayed will be less than
the size of the physical memory installed.
Dual channel memory architecture
Support for DDR3 1600/1333 MHz memory modules

On the off chance this helps anyone, I've resolved it.
Turns out the board shipped with F1 Bios revision so my i5 Haswell refresh CPU wasn't compatible. I bought a cheap i3 Haswell (4130T) which allowed the system to post which is how I found this out. I've now flashed the bios to the latest revision (F7) and all is well.
