Anyone got one of these? Have a XPS 13 on order, but tempted to swap for this. Having played with it in John Lewis, it seems a cracking device. Really like the taller screen.

XPS design is a bit boring and when I tried one at the beginning of the year, ended sending it back due to horrible coil whine. Was hoping the new model and comet lake CPU would be better, but the Iris graphics on the SL3 are tempting!

XPS is the better productivity laptop (better I/O etc), but I use this for youtube and browsing - trying to upgrade my Macbook Pro 2015...!

Watching with interest. I have a Surface Pro and an XPS 13. No problems with whine on the XPS it's a 9370 16gb ram so will run all sorts. But I'm looking at the Surface laptop 3 for the new year, nothing else really grabs me.

My old Surface Pro has been rock solid, hopefully the laptops are too.

So I pulled the trigger and it has arrived. Finally a laptop fit to replace my 2015 MBP!

Really well screwed together, amazing input (keyboard/touchpad) - best I have seen on a windows laptop, great screen ratio.

I went for the i5, 8gb, 256gb in matt black. Really impressed so far!

Surface products in general are great.
Until something goes wrong and you need support.
I've had to send a couple of machines to Germany with a 2-4 week turnaround. This really shouldn't be necessary in this day and age.
Dell warranty is excellent as long as you know how to manage the call centre operative (i.e. forward guess their algorithm). They will have no problem sending out an engineer etc.

I'm curious, why didn't you go for the 16inch MBP? To me that's what I'd go for and am on a 2015 MBP 15inch.

13 inch - the 16 inch MBP was a bit too big. I use this for general browsing/youtube/light gaming (football manager) etc. I didn't want to wait until the new year for a MBP 14 with the decent keyboard.
