Hi,

My youngest (11) has expressed a vague interest in making music. I used to be well in to my synths in my youth (late 80s/early 90s) but I imagine things have moved on somewhat in the last 25 years.

He has a Chromebook and I wondered whether anyone in the know could suggest a "cheap as possible" set up for him. In my head, this would consist of a keyboard of some sort (maybe a single octave one) plus some kind of Chromebook sequencer software (is that what they're still called?!)

So - would anyone be able to give me some pointers. Bearing in mind it was only a vague suggestion of interest so a) as cheap as possible and; b) physical quality/longevity isn't massively important in the short term.

Thanks,
Phil

Yeah - I saw that, thanks. I was after ideas whether it's any good etc. Also, predominately after keyboard ideas.

Thanks though.

What Chromebook does he have?
If it supports Android apps don't forget to check for Android offerings.

This is about the cheapest option from a reputable brand at the moment:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/AKAI-Professional-LPK25-W...

...and for £11 more there is a bluetooth equipped version which would provide more flexibility:
