Android audio recorder

[Mr Pointy]

I'm looking for an audio recorder for my One Plus Android phone that can record ambient sound ie not someone speaking close to the phone or an incoming call. There's a recorder app with the phone but the recorded sound is almost inaudible on playback & I'm wondering if it's a by product of the noise cancelling mic arrangement & the ambient sound is just being cancelled out.

Anyone know of an app I can try?

I record guitar with the soundcloud app and its surprisingly good on my phone anyway (note4). You can set them to private when you upload and then download them later. Free account is probably all you need.

Give Smart Recorder by Smartmob a try. Has configurable recording quality and a sound activation option so you don't record lots of silence.
