I have sky fibre getting connected next week, however the previous owners broadband with plusnet is still working to this day, its been 5 weeks since we had a call from the estate agents saying they are cancelling it and itll be 28 days before its cancelled, its been longer than that now and its still on.

Will this cause any problems on switchover day? Or can sky just take over the line, obviously i dont have an account with plusnet and they wont tell me when the contract is finished.

Shouldn't be an issue. I was with BT, but the previous tenant in one property had TalkTalk which was apparently finishing. These providers are used to people moving on, they can't force you to use a service you don't want.

Plusnet, Sky, Vodafone, Talktalk etc all use a BT line. They will check with Openreach if the line is clear, then usually set you up with a phone number, get you a router and off you go.

In the event of any failure of service, it may be the BT line at fault, Sky would contact Openreach to send an engineer to take a look and fix if there were any issues...

Your can never guarantee anything with open reach

But if you’ve got an install date then that means the orders gone through to openreach, any clashes will have been flagged when they accepted the order.
