I have bought a Dreamlink T3 STB which is 4K compatible.

I have tried using it on 3 TVs but the sound and video are never fully synchronised.

None of the TVs are 4K, but I assume the sending kit would handshake with the receiving kit to understand what it needs to send. I assume that there is some form of clock in the specification to ensure that the sound and video stay in sync. and so for the life of me, I do not understand why it does not work?

Can anyone say which settings I should be using to influence this behaviour?

Thanks

Mr Pointy

The AV delay setting might be in your TV settings. Are you plugging the STB directly into the TV & not via a soundbar?

There is no sound bar. On my main TV, I have a Toslink into my Sonos sound system. The others it’s just the internal sound system and all work fine with my Humax box, MS Miracast and Amazon Firestick. So the problem only manifests itself through this Dreamlink box.

The Audio is about 2-secs ahead of the video all the time.

Have you changed the output of the dreamlink to 720 or 1080?

The resolution of the video is perfect, as is the sound. It is only that they are not in sync, so not sure why that would be different.

All other gizmos seem to work just fine by PnP, so while the TV are not Smart, they are not ancient either.

Does the dreamlink let you select pcm or dolby or other options, the tv might be transcoding it causing a delay?
Try experimenting with different settings. I know using aac on some hd modulators can cause lipsync problems with certain tvs.

I have already tried playing around, generally trying to turn off anything that is complicated.

As I mention the sound arrives ahead of the video, so I am assuming it must be a clock issue, but I have no idea what setting can influence that.

I would of said it is more likely to be the box doing some video processing which is adding the delay. I think playing around with the video settings is probably a good idea.

Thanks, I will have another go.

My issue there is that everything is Initialised, I have Googled them, but which ones to toggle is not obvious.

On my Humax, there is a control that can micro adjust the synchronisation. I definitely need something like that.

The odd thing is that YouTube is synchronised, but then there are plenty of other folks happy with the “App” that I have subscribed to.

Oh is it a chorey tv box? I imagined it to be a satellite box.
It might be trying to upscale the video onlower res streams to 4k, does it do it if you set the box to 720p and let your tv handle the upscaling to whatever the panels native resolution is?
Unfortunatly pirated media isnt as good as the real thing sometimes.

Please award yourself an official PH “Genius of the week” badge.

It took a while to find the setting in Android, but now everything seems to be running perfectly in sync. The TV is now probably 11-years old so nothing is adjustable on any of the 3 HDMI inputs. However, when you mentioned the 720p last night, it sounded like a fairly likely source of the problem. I had options of 50Hz and 60Hz so I opted for 50Hz.

Many thanks to everyone who contributed.
