The kids ground me down in the summer and I got a family subscription to Spotify.

They are now on about YouTube Premium.

I’ve read the bumf and it seems that YouTube Premium might also do what Spotify does (and a lot more), so I don’t need to keep the two going, just cancel S and subscribe to YT.

Can someone with some experience shed share their experiences please?

Thanks in advance.

I have YT Premium, and also Google Play Music (GPM) free too, which is the Spotify type music app. You also, rather confusingly, get YouTube music as well, which is like a video version of GPM. I get it for no adverts in YouTube, which makes it worth every penny as I loathe modern adverts.

I also pay for Apple Music as well, because I’m odd.

Thanks. That’s what I’m wondering.

I want to get it as no ads on Premium, but wonder if the kids are going to miss not having Spotify. Sounds like I can get away with it.

If you use Brave you'll get no ads in Youtube without having to sign up to Premium, although I'm sure YT music has better tools.

To me Youtube Premium is just a way to have less adverts and also be able to play music with the app shut.

I haven't looked into it, but purely for a music platform Spotify is much better?

I find the Youtube app clunky and unreliable , with regards to playlist orders etc.

EG if you modify it on PC but later go onto your Mobile app, the lists haven't sync'd.

Thanks all.

I’ve cancelled Spotify family sharing but I reckon the YouTube Music sub isn’t going to cut it. Just can’t face £40/month subs for these.

YouTube vanced app on android will remove the ads on YouTube.

I guess you'd need YouTube premium to remove ads from YouTube on TV.
