My mother in law came over for Christmas dinner and said her PC did not boot during the unwrappings

Cheers mother in law, I'm luvin that surprise Xmas present for new year. biggrin

Then my daughter got a new microphone / headset combo so she could use the F word too much against some poor teenager from america who has a comb over aged 16 on online games.

And it did not work.

She's never going to get prematurely pregnant at this rate. So dad dons his +4 armour and runs into battle like a latter day Leeroy Jenkins. Only to run out again once seeing the pit of doom

Coimputers are one thing but that is an East London style Labour MP style health hazard with rats the size James Herbert would be scared of.

Time to man up and think of Tom Skerrit and his little flamethrower.

Which would actually be handy here due to all the rubbish.

To cut a long story short I was like a pig in st trying to sort this sort of stuff out after all these years. loved it !

The old Razer headset was USB and the new one was the old 3.5mm jack with a splitter for mic and headphones ..... and it was stuck into an external AV40 set of speakers using the Aux IN.... just because they fitted eeklaugh Kids eh?

I need to buy an extension cable, male to female, or should that be female male in 2020? Non binary connections? That would be fine too, just for ease of use but at least it's all working now.

And I got the 7.1 added in for good effect, and turned up the gain so that if she still wants the AV40 speakers to work she can still shout at the microphone from 12 feet away ...

At least my mother in laws house will be tidy when I go over there......

I'll probably come back with a leaking bladder and saying I was not the man I used to be .............

It's a bit late, but I am really struggling to follow what this thread is saying

Is he saying he genuinely loves dealing other people's tech problems or is that sarcasm?

I think he is a frustrated writer. It certainly was a very elaborate post to say he plugged in some headphones. And in the process showed how messy his house is. Why not face the computer against the wall at least? It would be more like an actual living room then.
