Hello all

So I bought a nice 65" 4k telly and a xbox and a Nolan box set. Night to myself so sat down to watch Interstellar in 4k, disc into the xbox and whirrrrr whirrrrr whirrrrr. Noisy mechanical type noise.

Oh man, forgot about the spinning disc noise. Ugh. That's why we don't use the HD blu ray player either.

So I want to copy the blu ray to usb or a HDD. My main laptop is a Linux (ubuntu) and also have a windows laptop. Neither will read a blu ray. I do have a mac book pro but that's a work laptop so I don't want to use that really.

Any suggestions please? Do I need to purchase a blu ray 4k reader (80 quid or so) or can I manage this somehow between the xbox and one of the laptops?

Or will DRM prevent me doing this even if I had the right hardware? In which case, what, a extra long HDMI lead and move the xbox to another room?

Thanks!!

Never really bothered with ripping, my player is silent enough though I have two disks that did make a noise. (on my old DVD player, not my 4k player).

Tried other disks first or is it an xbox thing, xbox firmware up to date? Also, long HDMI lead probably won't work past 7 or so meters for 4k full fat.
