New Ubiquiti Setup
Discussion
Hi all
After suffering terrible WIFI for the past few months i have bought some Unifi equipment.
What do people suggest i do with carving up the wifi?
Currently i have one SSID which devices and users connect to. But i am thinking about segregating it
SSID 1 - Nest Cameras
SSID 2 - IoT
SSID 3 - Kids
SSID 4 - Users
SSID 5 - Guest
Is this too granular?
How best am i to carve it up

Take the 8 port managed switch back as they are known for failing fairly regularly.
Just get a decent unmanaged switch and Poe injectors if needed.
Mines been running for over a year with no issues. Maybe I got lucky. Just get a decent unmanaged switch and Poe injectors if needed.
I run 2 SSID. One for us and one for guests. Even that is overkill really.

I've got about a dozen of them dotted around at work in all sorts of harsh environments and none have failed so far.Just get a decent unmanaged switch and Poe injectors if needed.
As mentioned by someone else though I'd be tempted by the Dream Machine instead https://www.4gon.co.uk/ubiquiti-unifi-dream-machin...
But if you can wait for it to hit the UK I'd go for the Alien https://amplifi.com/alien

interesting I run about 30 unifi switches and around a dozen are 8 port poe... not had any fail in a few years...Just get a decent unmanaged switch and Poe injectors if needed.
a bit over kill for a home system, but great if you manage lots of sites..
