I purchased a new Q70R Samsung on Black Friday.

Watching stuff from my server is amazing. 1080P, UHD etc, HD

The difference is notable moreso since I got this TV.

The SkyQ box I have is the one with the silver trim underneath it and I gather this pumps out 4k also?

Which channels look washed out? You need the 2TB Q box to get UHD.

Only the HD channels output HD,

All others are just SD

UHD '4K' is only broadcast on select channels and events, on a sports game it usually prompts you to switch to UHD, by the red button or similar.

It explains it al here

You can check what the box is outputting in the settings menu. Have a look.

You could try a different HDMI in on the TV.

SS2.
