Hello All,

The wife got me a projector for Christmas for our bedroom, long story short it wont run Netflix.

I am streaming netflix from the Ipad through the HDMI cable to the projector, it works perfect but when you play all you hear is sound( you can see the netflix screen, fast forward etc but just doesn't show the actual program, I called netflix and apparently they have blocked any projectors running it.

Any ideas, I figured there would be a tech guru on here somewhere and there would be a workaround.

It's not an expensive one - It's a Elephas GC333

Apparently Netflix doesn't support screen mirroring.

If I got a firestick and plugged it into the projector that would work wouldn't it?
Any ideas?

I play Netflix on my projector but it's via my sky box rather than mirroring via an ipad so I'd imagine a fire stick would be fine.

It won't know if it's plugged into a TV or a projector so should work

Chromecast should allow casting to HDMI?

Here is a silly question

How would I login to netflix on the projector using a firestick

The projector has a HDMI/USB port

As I assume it would need to connect to the internet

Exactly the same way as signing in with the firestick plugged into a tv, using the remote to enter your credentials.

I thought that would be the case but thought I would ask. (I know I sound stupid)

Oh well that's that problem solved, need to mount the projector, screen in the bedroom tomorrow and go and get a firestick.

Thanks everyone

Just be aware the fire stick might not work.
Amazon’s implementation of dhcp 2.2 is flaky and sometimes results in picture but no sound. Only telling you so that you don’t waste hours as I did trying to get it to work.

Better route would be a Blu-ray with Netflix/ amazon apps

Why would the projector receiving the signal over HDMI from a firestick or a chromecast be any different from receiving it over HDMI from an iPad?

Don’t know if that was a question to me but in case it was : they are completely different.
The amazon fire stick consists of software and hardware built to Amazon’s standards and it doesn’t always play nicely even with expensive av receivers
An amazon app on iPad or chrome cast is merely amazon software - the hardware interface is controlled by a third party.
I’d steer clear of apple though as they are even worse for controlling what can be transmitted via hdmi.

Netflix doesn't support screen mirroring that's why it won't work on the phone or ipad.

I bought a now TV stick as it was only £15 in B&M and it has Netflix, YouTube.

Plugged it in and job done 😊

Mirroring is always fraught with challenges be it no picture, delay on the sound, or the thing crashing half way through watching something..

It's not worth the time struggling with it when you can get a firestick or even better a roku express (cheaper, faster menus/search and better remote) for so few £. Both firestick and roku will not only do the biggies of Prime, Netflix, Sky/Now and iPlayer, but they'll also do with ease all the lesser channel apps like ITV, 4, C5, Dave/Gold and more movie streaming apps than you can count.

Yea I was thinking that, just wanted to ensure I could get Netflix to work first.
