We’ve got a dog that normally sleeps downstairs, but it’s be nice to be able to open the door in the morning so he can come up first thing onto the bed.

Also aware if anyone did break in, he’s stuck in the back of the house and can’t go deal with them (which he very much would!)

So ideally I’d like a smart latch for the kitchen door, which I can use with Alexa or similar, to open the latch and door will open and upstairs/burglar hunting, he goes.

Any ideals? I’ve google’d around but can’t find anything...

just had a quick search and came across this basically one of those door closer type things that are on fire doors etc but it is automated and can be operated by control panel at the door or by remote control

Big question would be would the remote control work from another area of the house, as the video shows the user close to the door.

No price mentioned so that means it will be expensive most likely

"automate my internal swing door" brings up some results

I would (probably) look at sourcing a small electromagnetic door lock. These things are in virtually every every commercial building in Europe. Then hook it up via an IFTTT smart plug or power source to control it from your smart phone.

That's how I'd do it. Cheap and dirty, but functional.
