Has anyone got much experience of them and is it worth paying a bit more for this system:

over this one?

I have the bottom one and it’s been used daily for at least 7 (or poss 8 years) really rate it tbh and paid for itself over that time. At the moment it’s the primary sound source paired to a ultra short throw projector and Apple TV until I get round to installing something more discreet.

I haven’t experienced the top one outside of a sales environment but in said sales store I couldn’t heard a vast quantum of difference between the 2.

Thanks,
I actually have the bottom one as well but have seen the top one being offered at a very good price and am trying to figure out if it is worth the trouble of upgrading.

I think the main difference is some kind of improved sound processing and an extra cone in the satellites.

To be honest, if i can buy the comp 5 at the price it is being offered at (used) I could probably get nearly all the money back from selling my comp 3 so if there is marked improvement it is a bit of a no brainer.

I have the top one, use it daily on my home PC.
Not really used for watching movies, but for playing music in the background whilst i work.

When i first got it, it comes with a DVD which provides examples of how the "5.1" works, it does, really quite well.
However the music that is played it punchy, accurate and a weighty (because of the sub). Very happy with my purchase.

Never had the one you've got OP, just went straight in with this one, so cannot really compare the two.

I will be using them as PC speakers and i do watch some movies/Netflix on the PC so a surround sound effect might be nice!

The guy has just got back to me, i am picking them up later today.

Just for thread closure..

I picked up the Bose 5's for £50(!) and just sold my Bose 3's for £90 which i originally bought for £50..so basically i just got a free set of Companion 5's and they are definitely better!

I love a bargain smile
