As per title really, is Vodafone BB any good?

They say I can get 65mb for about £30 a month, with NowTV at the moment and its about 1/2 that speed. The speed we get now is fine just sometimes a bit flaky!

I have it.

To summarize the two threads - they are great if you don't need any technical support.

If you need to contact their technical support - not even God can help you...

^^^ What he says.

We have it, current router is miles better than last one and as long as you haven't any issues, you'll be fine.

Oh, and I'm paying £20/month for BB & line rental, £30 is too much.

Just switched to them from Sky last week and speed went from 36 to 50 for £20 a month, I haven’t had any technical issues but gather their support is regarded as poor but fingers crossed I won’t need to call them.

To give you some scope of this, to say their support is 'regarded as poor' is like saying a great white shark is ' a little bit bitey' hehe

They're great for IP TV streaming as unlike Sky, BT etc they don't actively try and block and dodgy football streams... So i'm told.

I've swapped their router out though as it's just pants!

How did you get on getting the router CHAP username and password... I had to literally direct the agent to their own help website to get them to understand what I was talking about.

I just moved to Voda as they had a "guaranteed 25mbs" offering, and i was getting 20 with Sky
Been in 2 days so far and it is running at 12.93 so (as their support say) lets hope it improves.
On day 1 the wi-fi simply would not work. Ethernet connections did but 30 mins on online chat with some guy failed to fix it. The router knew the mobile/wifi devices were attached but they got the "no internet" message
He gave me a number to call, and to be fair they answered within 2-3 minutes, and after 60 seconds the woman on the line said "try again" and the wifi was now working. No explanation as to what was wrong, but at least it is going.
Now i just hope it speeds up, else will go back to Sky

Switched a couple of weeks ago. Solid 63mbps down / 19 up. Supplied router OK but no issues getting my PPPoE username/password for my own router from a support agent on webchat in a few minutes.

Happy so far.

Was with Vodafone broadband for a couple of years. Download speed failed to reach minimum guaranteed. Support were on the phone for ages, they were helpful-ish but solved nothing.

Then they sent out an Openreach engineer who replaced the socket on the wall, which initially made the speed go up for a few days, before it dropped off again. In the end they discounted my bill by something like 15%.

Switched to Plusnet recently and the speed was better immediately and has remained good. So maybe it was the router.

Cheap internet, free fixed ip if you ask.

If you have a problem they will not escalate, and for me, laugh at you from wherever there call centre is. Never experienced anything like it, and that's from someone who was a career IT director.

Problems were with my land line . Internet has been solid. Use my own router. Under £20 a month. No line rental.

Obtaining PPPoE user/name password took a few minutes on the web chat to use my own router.

I'm not out of contract but price has stayed the same and not increased. I also have a fixed IP which is free if you ask for it. Most others charger £5 for this.

I changed to them, got £100 voucher and £22 ish for phone and decent BB.

Came live yesterday, but did not work when I got home. So called them, have to say was very happy, got through to the right person within a minute at 18:30, was on the phone for maybe 20 minutes, whilst they spoke with Openreach. Within an hour or so all was up an running well.

Genuinely cant fault them so far.

As my change from BT to Voda is going through in the next week or so, talk me through router changes/upgrades.
If Voda’s is poor can I utilise the home hub 6? Or what would be my other decent options.
I’ve gone for the 63 option, so happy to work with this. Also considering a mesh system for better upstairs Wi-fi.

We pay £21mo for 40mbps. It is capped to this, so have never seen it drop below it, we can go up to 60 for an extra £5.

Decent router with plenty of options. There was a typo on one of the setup IDs, so we spent a fair bit of time on phone to support, but there were reasonable and it was resolved.

Have no issues with it at all, the router is a big grey slab thing, its not the prettiest thing you will have in your house biggrin

My flat is a converted 18th C granary/ bakery, so some of the walls are 300mm thick brick work, with various cast iron bits supporting roofs etc. I went for the 63 option (Superfast 2 I think) and was got 55MB on iPhone speed test in the bedroom, behind a thick old wall.
The router is on another level, there is a little vestibule (i think its called) by the front door, then all the living space is up stairs.

The actual change over is simple, unplug the old router, plug in the new one!
