Guys,

Could you tell me if there would be any compatiblity problems with the following:
The main Hard drive (C Drive) is FAT32 with XP installed and i add a new drive, for storage, but this has been formatted to NTFS.

Can i copy and paste file back and forth between the dirves? Any other issues?

Thanks

There are no problems with using both FAT32 and NTFS partitions in XP.

However, if you have no particular need for FAT32, you might want to consider converting the drive to NTFS also.

NTFS is more secure, gives greater performance and does not fragment quite so easily.

Converting the drive is easy and I've never had it lose data so is safe to do.

If you want more info on this, let me know.

Cheers
Paul

Be careful of converting to NTFS if your OEM restore program uses an older version of Ghost or similar. Some of them wont recognise NTFS, which means that you cant restore without a low level format of the drive....

IMHO, on a modern PC, with a reasonable drive speed, unless you need EFS or somesuch, there isnt too much point running through the convert.exe malarkey.
