Hi Folks

I updated my desktop a few days ago from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and now I can't connect to the internet.

Please advise how to solve this problem.

Thank you

basics first you may need to simply re enter whatever your wifi password is

If you connect via wireless and you can't do that since the update then get hold of an ethernet cable and connect your laptop directly to your router
Next right click the windows icon far bottom left a list appears. Look for Device Manager it is usually 4th from top.
A picture of device manager is attached the picture shows the disc drives list in expanded form if you click on device manger there may well be a few things listed
Left click on device manager are any of the devices listed showing a warning icon if its your network adapter then double click it and try the reinstall device option if it shows

Good Morning Folks

So sorry that I didn't properly read theprevious post.

It's mydsesktop that I am havinhg problems with.

My router is downstairs and desktop is upstairs. So I guess I need a very long ethernet cable?

Is there any other way round this?

Thank You

If you don't have an ethernet connection to the router, and all you have done is upgrade from W7 to W10, then I assume that your computer has wifi and that something is preventing it connecting to the router.

Have you looked at the devices as suggested above?
Can you identify the item in that list labelled network adapters?

If you click on the triangle next to it, the item will expand to show all the network adapters.

Are there any warning messages

Can you see there is a wifi adapter there?

I'm not using windows so I won't be able to help you, but if you answer the above Qs, maybe someone else will be able to help

Many thanks for your ideas.

I'm not very computer literate and will give it a go.
