Looking for some advice please.

I current have a Macbook Pro from mid 2014, it does everything I need it too (although the speakers have started to go)

I am looking to get into live streaming and have brought pieces of equipment needed, but a mac doesn't seem to be the best piece of kit for this and windows would be more suitable.

I am unsure whether to look for a desktop or another laptop? the games will be played on console not through the computer.

Whats best to look out for? any good deals around at the moment? not looking to spend thousands but will need to spend a fair amount I understand this.

Thanks in advance

Install windows on the Mac? Have a look at Virtual Box.

Install Windows via Bootcamp and you'll find your Macbook has gained a fair bit of speed.

All my Macs since my first Mac Pro have been dual-boot as I could never get all the peripherals/drivers working in VM Fusion/Parallels/VirtualBox - and I preferred having the full use of the processors, RAM and GPU.

Yes I did see about bootcamp maybe it's worth looking into that before going out and spending on an upgrade.

The last part of your post makes no sense to me, I know a bit about computers but not a lot

ETA: to install windows through bootcamp do I need to purchase a key?

Yes, you'll need a W7 or W10 key to install Windows (not sure whether Windows version is restricted to specific MacOS builds though).

OEM codes can usually be found cheaply on ebay (other tat bazaars are available of course).

Windows version is restricted to specific laptop model years, older model years won't let you install Win 10, newer won't let you install Win 7.

A little incorrect. Starting with Intel’s 7th gen CPU’s you couldn’t install Win 7 but there’s no problem installing Win 10 on older Intel CPU’s.

I’ve got an old PC with an 4th gen i7 that the kids use daily on Win 10.

Did you miss that this was referring to Mac specifically?

What is the processor in the Macbook Pro? I wouldn't recommend anything less than a six core processor if you are looking at streaming.

Not at all. I was merely explaining why that is.

A 2014 Intel CPU will be fine for Win 10.

I use Parallels to run Windows on my Macbook Pro - it's a decent solution.

I believe it's a dual core i5?

Just installing windows 10 but my mac is only 128gb so I dont have too much storage, I have 1TB hard drive though so I could just keep files on there.

HRL I have dropped you an email

No you weren't, you were trying to be a smartass. Apple doesn't offer support for certain Windows versions beyond certain model years. That was the point, it was a generic point made in response to a generic statement, which happens to be enclosed in a thread about a mac with 4th gen Intel chip..

Right so bootcamp has done its thing, I partitioned to allow space for windows, then my mac restarted itself, I just have a black screen now (pretty sure the screen is still on) just going to leave it to it and come back in a bit.

Right, Windows cannot be installed on partition 3 (bootcamp) because the selected disc is of the GPT partition style...
