Hi all,

I want to extend my MacBook screen onto my iMac I have some software on my MacBook which is takes up a lot of screen real estate thus the need to use an external display, both are pretty new and running the latest version of Catalina.

I've Googled and found a few things, but I can't seem to get it to work, I'm not sure if it's the machine specs/age, cables, or I'm simply doing it wrong, machine specs below: -

MacBook Pro 2017 (4 thunderbolt ports)
iMac Retina 5K 2017 (2 thunderbolt ports)

Cheers

I've never used it but you could try this software: http://avatron.com/applications/air-display/

Do you have an ipad? You can extend your macbook display onto your ipad with the native OS software - Sidecar

Alternatively, a piece of software I've used in the past is Duet

Just tried this and we have a really old iPad which will only go to 12.6 software. Back to the drawing board for me too!

Has anyone had experience of this HP monitor? Looks decent with USB-C output and built in B&O speakers:
