4K tv as a work monitor
Discussion
Better getting either a 24" 1080p or a 27" 1440p or 2 of each if budget, space and work requirements need and allow.
I tend to find TVs don't always work well as monitors. They are setup for moving pictures and the type of signal they receive, compared to a PC.
As for the 40" comment, my monitor is 49", but it's not a TV and you aren't getting one for less than £250.
I think it's fantastic, but they are certainly not cheap.

It'd be fine. I used a 39" 4k TV as a monitor for at least 5 years (before getting a 5k ultrawide monitor).
Only thing to watch out for really is the refresh rate - I'd strongly recommend ensuring it was 60hz not 30hz or it'll be a bit flickery dragging windows about, scrolling, etc.
Personally, I wouldn't touch a 1080p monitor these days, my last CRT had a higher resolution!
