What's your preferred tool for web development/design...

Anyone experienced wish to share their opinion?

either - the machine is irrelevant...

for web development, you have some core requirements:
- ability to put text into a document
- ability to upload it onto a website
- ability to manage databases
- ability to test the end results in a browser

some companies will have more complex requirements where they run teams managing one project, so need check-in / check-out options / etc. but at its core the above is all you need and you can do that on virtually any machine - I can do much of our work on an ipad if I need to, but run my desk machine as a PC and my laptop as a Mac (so that I can test on both) and both are more than up to developing for the web...

no-one in our company uses identical setups - we are based across windows 7 - 10 and IOS / MacOs versions as well...
something as simple as notepad has been used for development (the 3rd party notepad++ is very popular) or you can use many other options from Adobe's dreamweaver, to many free or cheap alternatives...

actual machine - not all that interesting

I'd go with the above, I've seen allsorts, in development. Dont forget you ultimately need to test them on all platforms anyway emulators are ok, but you need the real installs ultimately.

Anything that can run Visual Studio Code and a terminal is fine for me.

I like where your man maths is going ?

Personally i'd add a Unix machine to the mix as well and a few tablets. Virtual machines are ok .. but having a bank of real end user type machines is easily justified ( though technically not needed )
