Been a heavy user of illustrator for about 8 years - tbh I love working with vectors - my brain understands vectors but I cannot do photoshop at all.

So I have a MAC Pro 2013 and 2 x DELL 5K monitors connected with 2 mDP cables for each monitor, which up until the beginning of last week have been nothing but spectacular.

All of a sudden illustrator is on a massive go-slow. I have done everything you could possibly think of ...... uninstalled, deleted all adobe folders, reinstalled, screen share with adobe tech support, which is excellent, 2 sessions last week - finally worked out that WITHOUT the tool panels showing on the screen, everything is ok. But as soon as you show a panel LAYERS ESPECIALLY, its go-slow time. The culprit ..... after extensive investigation and testing = the 5k monitors :-( - illustrator, according to Adobe, does not like 5k.

After farting around I have managed to configure the MAC to run 1 monitor at 5K 2 mDP cables) and the other (the one with illustrator on it) at 4k (1 x mDP cable) and now dont have any issues ...... apart from a small degradation in screen definition on the 4k.

This all seems a totally irrelevant in todays world health situation - but I just thought it might help someone with the same issue.
