Email Scams on the Up

In these dark times when people's minds are elsewhere there seems to be a surge in the Sexploitation email scams that were rife a few years ago.

I have had two in the last few days, that send you a password you have used before and the following email:

Actually, I placed a virus on the xXx vids (sex sites) site & guess what, you visited this web site to have fun. While you were viewing videos, your web browser started working as a Remote Desktop having a keylogger which gave me accessibility to your display and also cam recording. Just after that, my software collected all your contacts from your Messenger, social networks, and email. #### is one of your passwords. if you send me $986 as a donation through Bitcoin, I will erase the recording immediately. (search for in Google "how to buy bitcoin"). my BTC Address: 3KZfRZv5kzcJ6wGyivqKyQgHYcMZjzcZjg You have one day in order to pay. If I do not get the BitCoins, I will definately send your video to all of your contacts. vJFX

I had a look at the 'have I been pawned' site and found my Yahoo account has been sold on 11 times...

Anyone else getting more of these scam emails than normal?

Or the scammers have just worked out how to get past the mail filters so the crap gets delivered

Had exactly that email a few days ago, I also checked if I had been pwnd site which showed my email had been flagged 4 times, something like that. Funnily enough, just a few weeks ago I had an email from Virgin to say their data had been breached with old emails and passwords, but no other data.. since then I have had a few scam emails.. These #&£@# like to scare folk and depend on people panicking and paying. I do neither.

I have since changed my password on all social media sites to something very unique, no family names, nicknames, pet names, dob, hobbies, children’s names etc... and put some blu tac on my iPad webcam

It’s weird that even though I work in IT and security is part of my role getting this email freaked me out a bit. It’s the fact that it shows your password that does it as it gets you thinking that they have been able to hack other sites.

If you were a pensioner that didn’t know any better you would be paying these scum their money.
