PC wireless internet problem
Discussion
Ok I have a wireless network with broadband connected to it. My iBook is wireless and works fine on the network (ie web browsing) but my pc only allows one profile to access the internet, so for example my log in can access it but my sister's can't. both net settings are the same on each profile, and i have done endless trouble shooting but to no avail. im at the end of my tether because i hate pcs as it is and my sister keeps using my mac because it works! Help! :)
May be a few things.
I think the authentication details on some WiFi card drivers are per profile/user so you may have to set up the card for every user.
It may be the profile for your sisters user account isn't allowed access to the WiFi card or the network - have a look at her user in Settingers->Users & Groups (my be wrong - I only have 2000 at work), and compare it to yours.
The XP firewall gets setup for machine, not per profile/user, so it's not that.
McAfee shouldn't restrict anything either.
The WiFi hub should also be fine - it works when you're logged into the PC so we know it will actually do stuff.
I think it will be your WiFi card settings on the PC or your sisters profile access to the PC hardware.
Not heard of any issues with Buffalo kit - normally pretty good.
Still, PCs are poo and Apples rock, shame more people don't realise it!
Edit - sorry about the late teply - I forgot about this until just

Sounds like some of the Wireless settings are held in your profile are different to your sisters, it is quite common for applications to store there settings in your profile.
I would look in your profile (usually c:documents and settingsyour profile name) and see if you can spot a folder with your wireless card settings in it, if you can find the settings copy them from your profile to your sisters.
Hint: you will need to alter your view settings to see all of the stuff in yours or your sisters profile
open any folder then: Tools->folder options->view->click show hidden files and untick hide protected operating system files.
If not you may need to look at recreating your sisters profile as it appears that something is not correct in it.
I'm pretty sure this would be a profile issue from what you have said, see this all the time at work!.
If you are using the buffalo client to configure the network card make sure the settings are the same when you logon and when your sister logs on. Especially if you are using encyption (you should be!)
The "wireless card profile" settings are probably in the registry bu its worth a look to see if ti stores them in a file in your "windows profile"
Sounds very like per-"windows profile" settings.
