TV Video conferencing
Discussion
There seem t be as many ways of hooking up my macbook or phone up to a Panasonic TV to make use of the larger screen for videoconferencing (Zoom) as there are to skin a cat.
There are many alternatives on the internet and I'm not sure which is the best.
I guess I could run up a browser on the smart TV and go to Zoom from there ?
Or connect to Zoom on the Mac Book and cast the screen to the TV.
Or perhaps use the Screen as a monitor to the lap top ? Thunderbolt to USB?
Only the first of these would sue the camera on the TV - the others would use the camera on the laptop?
Anyone know what the standard way to do this would be?
The TV is a brand new Panasonic 32 Inch TX-32G302B.

If you're talking specifically about Zoom then the best way to use a TV is to use the Zoom Rooms feature. However that requires specialist video conferencing kit and probably overkill for what you want to do. Plus it's expensive.
The right solution for you depends on how your TV is set up in proximity to the other things required on the call. Basically think about where your mic, camera, speakers and screen are going to be. No point hooking up your mac by HDMI to the TV as a monitor if you're using the mac's built in mic and planning on sitting eight feet away on the sofa. Casting is better in that situation.
But if you're planning on using a bluetooth headset for the mic and sound then maybe leaving the mac next to the TV and you on the sofa is fine, albeit the Mac's camera will have you very small in the picture and you'll need to get up to start/stop calls.
If everything is going to be in very close proximity then I'd favour the TV as monitor plugged in with an HDMI adapter route. Personally, although I do it with a 27" monitor and not a TV, my macbook is plugged in via HDMI lead to the screen. I then have a bluetooth headset for mic and 'speaker' and an external USB webcam on top of the monitor so when I'm staring at others in Zoom on the monitor then I'm also looking straight at them on camera rather than looking off to the side where my macbook's built in camera is.
