Aliexpess / wish / etc - cheap drone!
Discussion
I am tempted to spend £30-40 on a cheap HD drone to generally muck around with, some grey imported generic thing from China which is a debeanded version of something in amazon with good reviews.
Has anyone tried something equivilent? What's the catch with these £35 drones, especially with the sites offering various guarantees on delivery & returns etc?

I bought this. flown 4 times and crashed 4 times but that is just me being a tit.

SD card was £10
Seems robust and when the wind and the cats calm down I may get to do a proper review.

I bought one a couple of days ago from bangood...1st time I've ever used them.
Same as the one you posted.
Was £40 for me though but ordered with 2 batteries.
Apparently it's coming from the UK and I'm expecting it to arrive this week, maybe.
I'll let you know if it arrives, and if it's s
t!.

That actually looks half decent. Might have a little dabble, as my drone course at work probably isn't going to happen in this current stateHas anyone tried something equivilent? What's the catch with these £35 drones, especially with the sites offering various guarantees on delivery & returns etc?

Why not a DJI Tello for £85? I got one recently and it seems a great balance of quality for the price.
I've done a bit of research into these and there's a decent looking community and following of these. Nearly pulled the trigger but I'll wait until the C situation levels itself out. I'm interested to see how you get on with it though!
Well my Eachine E58 is terrible.
Short battery Life. Camera footage quality is terrible. Throttle control erratic as fook. Controller quality is terrible.
It'd be ok for a tenner, not £40+.
I'm trying for a refund but God knows how successful that will be.

It's marketed as a 720p camera. Connects to your phone via WiFi.
Here's an attempt as some footage from yesterday.

As you can see....it's poor.
Good thing it Banggood have agreed to give me a £35 refund making my the net cost to me £7.....it's worth that much :-)

No need to send it back then? Here's an attempt as some footage from yesterday.

I've got the E520s on the way, it's supposed to have a 4k camera, but I'm guessing it'll be quite poor.
They get some good reviews though
I’d evaluate what you want to achieve from a drone.
Ie if it’s for flying for fun, then there are a lot of decent cheap quads. But these don’t usually do video. At least that isn’t there purpose.
There are some mini and micro ones for in door or calm outdoor flight too. Some also offer fpv.
However be mindful of local regulations on fpv flight. In the UK it is quite restrictive.
If you are after something for video. Then you need to assess the quality of the video capture. Not just resolution. But lens quality, compression and how they handle light. And of arguably more importance if the video is stabilised or uses gimbal.
Video drones are not really designed to be raced about the sky. So the flying fun is for capturing footage and smooth flight. Very different to a racing or stunt quad.
Video drones also benefit from handy features like altitude hold, gps and return to home with auto landing. I suspect to get anything worth buying you are looking at the £150-220 range +
If you want a racing quad or some fpv fun then £40-70 is very doable.

Mine arrived yesterday. First impressions are....... Bloody hell it's good for the price!
Quality seems good, the plastic has a matt finish, with a slight rubber texture. It's very light, weighs 238 grams, so falls just under the 250 grams that requires the test and registration (I did the test anyway for some knowledge)
1st flight was good, took a while to set it up and get my phone connected (didn't realise it had a WiFi connection for the phone to link to)
The app is pretty straight forward to use and connects to the camera on the drone, so you can see everything from the sky. It's very easy to control and even with a bit of wind, it remained stable.
It's reasonably quick to get up high and moving it around was a doddle.
The camera isn't bad either, not sure on the actual resolution (it's says 4k). I've taken a few photos which saved to my phone, I did put an SD card in, but it didn't save to that. The video didn't record, kept saying "card", so maybe it needs to be formatted correctly (it was in my GoPro)
I will try it without the memory card and see if the videos save to the phone.
Anyway, I'm really pleased with it for the price. Delivery was really quick too.
It came with 3 batteries and a flight time of around 15 minutes for each one
Here are a couple of pictures
