Hi, hoping someone can help me

I have a lot of data in a sheet. Each cell contains a number and a number in a bracket.

E.g 4 (1)

Nearly every cell contains this. I'm only interested in the number that is not in the bracket. How do i remove the brackets and the number inside for the whole sheet? I looked at using text to columns but that is a long winded way and I have a large number of sheet to look at.

Any quick way of doing it?

Formula, referring to cell A1 as an example;
=VALUE (LEFT(A1,FIND("(",A1)-1))

LEFT(A1,(FIND("(",A1)-1)) will convert cell A1 from '4(1)' to '4' irrespective of how many digits are in the first number. <- beaten to is by F&S!

If you need to change the whole sheet use find and replace:

Find: (* {find an open bracket and any number of following characters}
Replace: {leave this empty to replace with no characters}

NB - take a copy of the sheet before hand!!!

Or alternatively if you don't like the formula approach go:

data ... Text to columns... Delimited

And split columns by "("
