Hi,

I have a Western Digital My Book 10 TB sized external hard drive and I'd like to connect it to a wifi router that accepts via USB a storage device. Is there anything on the market that can handle a large sized HD this way?

The Wifi would be moderate use only and ideally the router would have 4 ethernet ports.

I don't wish to connect the 10TB HD directly to my laptop.

Cheers, Dennis!

I have a TP-Link Archer 2800: https://www.tp-link.com/uk/home-networking/dsl-mod...

I can't see any reason why it wouldn't work with your 10Tb USB external but it might be worth checking before buying as some can be limited. You can set up network shares, by user, for different media and folders. That can then be streamed using Windows Media Player straight from the USB on the router.

Sorry to jump in on this thread, but that does indeed look like a great piece of kit. I'm in a similar position to the OP. I've got a 4 drive Yottamaster (YM) box with a USB connection only, that I would like to be able to access wirelessly rather than plug into my laptop. But the YM is kept upstairs and my Vodafone router is downstairs next to the DSL socket on the wall.

Q1. If I were to move the YM downstairs next to the router, would I simply swap out the Vodafone router for the TP-Link one, connect it via USB and away I go? Or does the YM need special s/w to fileshare or is that aspect part of the router?
Q2. If I were to keep the YM upstairs, would I keep the Vodafone router downstairs, and put the TP-Link upstairs next to the YM and connect via USB, and try to connect the TP-link wifi to the Vodafone wifi-signal, and have 2 networks in the house. Is this a recipe for pain???

BTW, the Vodafone router does not support file sharing, otherwise I would not need to consider this.

Thoughts? Should I start a separate thread? Apologies to OP.
