Morning all, I 'need' an iPad for work meetings. I'll mainly be using it to take notes in meetings with the Apple Pencil as well as for just general internet usage, Spotify and the usual stuff. I know the Pro is all singing all dancing and there are plenty of clips of the Pro being used for this purpose but can you also use the iPad/Air as a decent note taking device?
I've already discounted the iPad Pro as I've a Surface Pro so it seems a bit overkill but is the iPad or the iPad Air the better option nowadays? I thought the iPad Air used to be more of a basic iPad but it's the more expensive option of the two on the Apple website so can anybody give some real-world advice please?

Thanks

Apple have a ‘compare‘ tool on their website which shows the technical differences

https://www.apple.com/uk/ipad/compare/?device1=ipa...

Main difference is the processor, which is probably not an issue, and the screen technology, which might be.

The base iPad doesn’t have the laminated screen. Makes it easier / cheaper to replace the glass if it breaks, but makes the image look a bit distant and is generally not as nice as the newer laminated screen.

Other thing iPad Air has is TrueTone display, which adjusts the colour balance to match the current ambient light. I’ve got this on my old 9.7” iPad Pro and it works well.

Shame you cant go anywhere to check out the screens, but overall I’d say for simple note taking, buy the base iPad and an Apple Pencil (gen 1) and save a tenner over the cheapest iPad Air (without the Pencil).

Great insight thanks! Forgot to mention that I may also be able to get the education discount on this but don't know % that gives off etc.
