It seems Brave is now serving adverts on the home page - are there other browsers out there with an inbuilt ad blocker please?

Firefox. I've not seen an ad (or a cookies pop up) for years and it's only when I'm online at work do I fully appreciate how appalling these invasive ads actually are

Chromium. Chrome with all the Google taken out. Much faster too. Only thing that's a pain is the lack of automatic updates. Adblock works on it.

But that is an add on then.... Not built in?

No adds here too using Brave on a Lenovo tablet, or a p20 pro phone.

Why are you so averse to an add in?
Chrome with UBlock is really good. Never seen an ad on here.

I switched to Brave (with a plug in) a while back as I was fed up with the cookie/GDPR pop ups in Safari; the only downside is that they have switched sync across devices off. Any good browser suggestions for mac/ios with sync and an ability to run nomorecookies type plug in?

I've started receiving them too. The photos are still quite pretty but one of the ads is for a trading platform so I don't like seeing them. Here's another example.

If you aren't seeing them just open up the launch page and refresh a few times. You'll get one every so often.

ETA I've switched to Firefox now with some of the extensions posted above. Not quite as smooth but no ads, and bonus points for good syncing and addons for the mobile version.

Not tried it on PC but iirc you have always had the option to turn on adverts on mobile but they gave you some sort of credit for it.

Have they turned this 'feature' on for the PC and by default.

This is on Android. That is exactly the kind of advert - I've played with the settings, but no joy. Pity.

Yes, they've changed the behaviour. Instead of 'if you enable rewards you will see ads and get credit for it', it is now 'here is an ad, you can earn credits for seeing ads like this if you enable rewards'.

The rewards are tokens of zero value to the user, they (allegedly) go towards the websites you visit most.

Seems spurious to me though. If I wanted to browse ads to support websites I would just enable their adverts, not go through a middleman.

I use Opera on Android, built in ad-blocker. I also use https://blokada.org/ which gives system wide ad-blocking, so no ads in apps either.

Another vote for Blokada here.
