Currys - buyer beware!

It’s the same across many retailers, they’re likely to have increased their return timeframes to suit the situation.
The point is that you have to speak to someone to return an online purchase - not sure many companies this size insist on verbal contact, most allow you to return items using an online process.Just think, how many online purchases would Currys make and how many of those are returns? Can you imagine the volume of calls they're inviting?
They're quick enough to take your money...

What do you expect them to do, not take your money until you say you are satisfied with your purchase?
Like so many other companies Currys have had to change how they work, so maybe it takes longer to get things sorted out.
Just add a returns document in the original package, like 99% of other companies i have bought from - not fkn difficult (or maybe that's the point)Like so many other companies Currys have had to change how they work, so maybe it takes longer to get things sorted out.
Similar scenario across the board I think
Bought an exercise bike from Argos as am struggling to get out and exercise due to a back problem
They had no stock for weeks and I finally managed to get one sent to a local Sainsburys.
Got home, built it - no power to the digital display. Livechat doesn't work, phone numbers says they're shut and no returns until shops reopen - although the will accept returns up to 30 days after shops are open again. In the meantime I have an expensive and bulky clothes horse

I understand it's difficult and unprecedented times but surely you would still have some customer service staff still working

Really not following your logic here. You’re lucky they even acknowledge the return given they probably have a skeleton staff working from home.
The global pandemic is causing mayhem across all industries. A lot of places won’t even honour returns and have instead increased the window they’ll accept them back in - they’ll sort them once they re open fully. I’d say Curry’s are doing well to even process them.

They haven't acknowledged the return! The point is all customers have to call them to trigger a return! The global pandemic is causing mayhem across all industries. It just seems very inefficient to channel all returns through their 'knowhow' team given they must know at least 1% of purchases are returned there must be an enormous number of people trying to get through to them at all times.
Just put a bloody returns label in with the item sent rather than forcing me and all other customers to call them - they didn't even include an invoice!
Feel like i'm talking to a brick wall here, i'll just move along...

Bit annoying, might be worthwhile contacting the manufacturer to send another display thing (if it's not built-in - mine can be removed/replaced). You can still pedal it, surely?Bought an exercise bike from Argos as am struggling to get out and exercise due to a back problem

I've never seen a returns document for stuff I've bought on line. Even Richer Sounds don't work like that.
Unusual.. the majority of companies who sell online include a returns label, or allow you to return stuff online without speaking to someoneYou have to phone because lots of people are idiots and will return something because they couldn’t work out how to turn it on. This allows them to triage returns, either to give you tech. support on the phone, or to book an engineer call, rather than items being needlessly returned.

Agreed.
I bought a lawn mover from them a month ago and still not delivered.
Tried calling but they keep you hanging on for > 1 hour and when they do answer they cut you off straight away.
Getting bored of them now.
Like i said, this is a buyer beware thread - just don't buy anything from Currys if there is a slight chance it may have to be returned or there may be something defective with it.I bought a lawn mover from them a month ago and still not delivered.

Can't say you weren't warned.

I think Roger Black stuff is their own brand badged up with a celebrity name tbhCould be the AC adaptor, one of the internal ribbon cables or the display itself
I can still pedal it but unable to change resistance so it's a little bit on the light side
