Hi

Does anyone know why this won’t work?

I am trying to install a brand new printer, although it’s about 18 months old but has sat u opened in the cupboard.

Hp envy 5032

Anyway, the printer has no instructions except to go to 123.hp.com. When I go there I can find my printer and press download. On google chrome nothing happens no matter how long I wait, keep pressing the button or start from scratch reloading chrome.

On Microsoft edge, I am able to get a response from pressing download:

What does this mean?!

I’m starting to remember why I never opened the box.

Any help appreciated.

I suspect it's not an HP problem but a Windows store problem. A few hints can be found here...

Thank you for your response.

I’ve given up, it turned out it was easy enough to Bluetooth the printing from my phone.

I say easy enough, I still needed to set up an HP account, confirm several times I don’t want to subscribe to HP ink subscriptions and so on.

Blimey, I miss the old days when you used to get a cd rom with the printer driver. That then inevitably didn’t work with your version of windows either. But at least you could throw the cd rom at the wall.

I can confirm it’s an absolute nightmare. It still is now after 2 years. It takes great pleasure in not connecting to my WiFi so unable to print from my laptop without a cable. . From a phone it’s a piece of cake. Why make it all so difficult.

The HP subscription isn’t a bad deal for occasional users, here’s a month free on sign up:

If you don’t want to take a paid for then the free tier gives you 15 pages a month (enough for a lot of home users).

Adding a referral link without declaring it is a bit naughty nono
