Hi,

For years I've been using Skype as we used it professionally between colleagues. Now we use all sorts of other software, but I still use skype to call landlines and mobile phones from my computer. I think the app is terrible, adding contacts is a pain.

There's a couple of reasons I do this:
  1. I have a decent headset on my computer so it keeps my hands free.
  2. We have terrible cell reception in our house
  3. For international calls, their rates are v good
So I got about 15 EUR left, which will last me at least about a month I think. I was just wondering what do you use. I have no experience with anything else to make calls.
I use google services for a lot of stuff I do and all my contacts are centered there. Although I looked into Voice but it doesn't seem to do what I require?

PS: I also apparently once managed to set it up so that it shows my number when I call people. When they call back, it arrives on my phone though :/.

Good value and good support. I personally haven't used their softphone app on a PC. Their mobile one works well but doesn't look flash. We use it with VoIP phones mainly and they're excellent.

Used Skype before for about 7 years but this is much more reliable.

Yeah, that's what I do as i've recently moved to a house with poor phone signal. Just wear my Bose QC35II's connected to my phone which is lying on a wireless charger.

I just signed up to:

After I moved our broadband to FTTP. Wife says we need a land-line as the old people we know only like to call landlines..

They are implementing it here, but it still would mess with my first point, that way I'd have to connect my headset to my phone when doing a regular call and then connect it to my computer when I do a video call.

Wifi calling will work if your phone is compatible and your phone provider has it as an option. Who and what?

You didn't mention video calling, VOIP is Voice Over IP.

I know you are trying to help. But try read point 1 of the OP. And in the post you responded to it would mean that I would need to switch my headset to call as I use it on my computer all day.

Ah, suppose it works for me as the QC35's I use can be connected to the computer and the phone at the same time wirelessly.

Just spent a tenner on Google Hangouts/Voice, seems to work great and saves me from the mess that is Skype smile plus I got all my contacts there.

That's pretty cool, I've seen keyboards that do that as well. How is the mic quality on them? I've got mixed experience without a "mic boom".
