Good evening chaps. Could I ask a quick recommendation. I need to edit some pdfs for work but for some reason I cannot subscribe to adobe acrobat pro online. Does anybody have a recommendation for a similar programme I can use? Many thanks in advance, cheers

Have you tried opening the file using Microsoft Word?
It might work, but depends what program the pdf was created in.

Depends what you want to do.

Foxit reader will let you type text onto the pdf and add images for signatures etc
PDF SAM will let you Split and Merge so you can make a single PDF from multiple files etc.

Foxit has a pro version for a lot less than Adobe that will do most of the stuff. I think PDF SAM has a paid for pro version too. We use Foxit at work for a bunch of stuff.

Affinity Publisher will import and edit .pdf files. There are some bargain basement sales every now and again.

Download the trial for free. It is then only a one off payment.

It will also depend on how the PDF has been saved and its structure (encrypted, locked, bitmap, layers, etc.).

I get all types sent to me, and if I don't want the hassle, I just them them that I can't do anything with the encrypted/locked ones if they can't find the password or a current/slightly older version of the original Word/InDesign/Quark file.

For simple changes in bitmap ones, I use Photoshop and ones with vector drawings I'll open up in Illustrator.

Chaps, thanks for the replies, much appreciated. I actually worked out a work around cutting and pasting into PowerPoint so I could colour the pdf and make a half decent effort of it... thanks again
