Hi all

I need a sim with data for 2mths. Would prefer not to have a contract, a foreign airport style deal where you buy for x days and x GB as a one off would be ideal.

Any recommendations?

Giffgaff.

Just buy a goodybag depending on how much data you need.

I've always had decent data throughput with Three and they look like they are running a deal with unlimited data through June of this year.

Unless something has changed, I would avoid GiffGaff as the data service is dogshcensoredt slow.

Easy enough to pick up a Three sim in most supermarkets.

Smarty - runs on the three network , no contract , unlimited voice/text/data £20 a month.

I dont have broadband where i live so use a smarty sim in my router it works very well

Thanks. Was thinking giffgaff. Is it straight forward to cancel after say 2mths?

Best thing about Giffgaff, you don't need to cancel. Once it runs out, that's it.
No dramas.

Are the goodybags one off payments? I had assumed they were a monthly charge. If one off that would be perfect

They last a month, so you'll either have to buy one each month or buy one and auto-renew the second month remembering to turn the auto-renew off.
Do the latter so you'll have constant data. Turning auto-renew on and off in the giffgaff app is as easy as pressing a button.

Yes one off,

I think I pay £10 for 7GB. Lasts a month. Also includes unlimited voice call and texts but that's for old people.

Other consideration is signal strength/availability.
giffgaff is on the O2 network, smarty is on three. I was going to change the OH's MiFi from EE to smarty but we get better coverage here from EE, and they pricematched smarty (£20. Not unlimited but plenty for our needs). Live on a boat so broadband is out of the question.

I really like the way giffgaff texts me every month to suggest I pay less as I never use anywhere near my data limit.

Just be aware Giffgaff with throttle your data.

Ish. For the Always On goodybag you get 80gb at full speed then they throttle to 384kbps between 8am and midnight, for the remainder of the goodybag. That’s what they say anyway. I’ve got the £20, 80gb goodybag and have never noticed throttling. Thinking about it, now I’m at home all the time I should probably go cheaper smile

I'm a regular GiffGaff user now having ditched the contract a few months ago, can definitely recommend, never had a service issue and I like the fact there is not contract.

Some extreme users talk about speeds being reduced but you would have to be using masses of data for that to happen, I've never encountered it on the goodybags I use.

Smarty have no speed caps and allow unlimited tethering in the UK, if that's a consideration. All depends if you just want to use a bit of social media or are planning a two month UHD wkathon.
